Life Knows

I haven’t posted under the ‘presentlyliving’ section for quite some time because I just haven’t had the urge to. Now and again, I still do get lost in my mind, although this seems to happen less and less the more I notice it.

This is why I like being out in the wilderness so much, it quiets the thinking mind. Recently, I had to make a difficult decision, and it reminded me that, when in doubt, listen to life. I know this may sound a little bit cryptic to most folks, but that’s only because most folks are completely lost in their own minds.

I’ve learned that life will tell me what I need to do, which direction I need to go in, but not on my timetable. Life does not have a timetable, it is indifferent to time. Life will tell me when I need to know, not when I want to know.

When I say that life will tell me, I don’t mean that it whispers in my ear, or even inside my head. In fact, you cannot access the wisdom of life through the thinking mind. You can only access it through being. By that I mean, you have to get out of your mind and into being.

Being is life without a thinking mind. Animals are always in a being state, since they do not possess a thinking mind, they only react to what’s happening right now.

Getting out of the thinking mind is probably one of the most important, and life changing things any human can do for themselves. It frees the spirit to be what it was always meant to be, what life meant it to be.

So, how does one get out of the thinking mind? Well, if it was easy, everyone would be doing it, and, it is so easy that anyone can do it. Yes, a paradox, like many things in life. It’s as hard as you want to make.

The Beatles had a famous song called ‘Let It Be’. No truer words were ever spoken. Just let life be as it is. There’s no need to force changes. Have faith that life will be as it needs to be, whether that be labelled as ‘good’ or ‘bad’ by our thinking minds.

Does this mean you shouldn’t do anything? No, it just means that you should take your direction from the little nudges that life will send your way, but you must first be open to those little nudges. You must be aware of them, in order to reap the rewards.

Most people go through life trying to think their way through it instead of just letting it unfold the way it wants to. There is no need to control life, in fact we couldn’t if we tried, but still that doesn’t stop most people from trying.

Things that we see as ‘bad’ happen in life all the time, and they always have, and will. Sure, we do have the ability to make choices that could, seemingly, steer life in one direction or another, but it’s not really us steering life. It’s life trying to teach us. If we steer in a direction that is against the flow of life, it will send us undesirable results. If we steer with the flow of life, it will send us things that we enjoy. It’s as simple as that.

To get out of the thinking mind, and access being, is the real problem for most people. When you’ve been lost in your mind for so long, it can seem like an impossible task. Most people will need to take baby steps first, by getting to a place where it’s quiet, with no distractions, and just letting go of every thought in their mind. Once you know what that feels like, you will get better at reproducing it in a place that has a few distractions.

In other words, you need to build up a resistance to thinking. Just like building muscles by exercising. It doesn’t happen overnight, but it could. You see, many things in life are a paradox, and it helps to realize this. Sure, thinking does have it’s place for us humans, but it’s gotten to the point where thinking is actually getting in the way of our ability to just be.

The joy in life exists in being, not in thinking. It’s not a complex problem…….Unless you think about it. πŸ™‚

  2. Hey Wild_E, Ya, I’m still subscribed, and I do check out your posts. The thing for me is, you are at the same place that I was at about 15 years ago. I did all the stuff that you’re doing now, back then. I still find it interesting to see where it’s all going for you though. We all have a path to follow, and it will be an enjoyable one if we allow life show us the way.

      • Well, that’s a very flattering offer Wild_E, although I’m not sure that I have more knowledge than anyone. I’ve always been, what might be called, a ‘free thinker’. I tend to do things in ways that are best for me, personally, rather than in ways that are reproducible for many different applications. I had tons, and tons of information collected on all the stuff you are into now, but I got rid of it all when I headed out on the road. I will say that I became very frustrated with my efforts back then because so many roadblocks got in my way. I now feel that life was trying to tell me that this was not my path. I didn’t know that back then though, and it created a lot of stress for me. I’m not suggesting that the same thing might happen to you. This could be the path that life intended for you, it’s not for me to say. Still, I’m glad that you enjoyed my post Life Knows, and that you do understand the message.

      • I have joined your forum under the user name NaturalPath. I must warn you though, I’m usually a very quiet forum member. I do read a lot though.

      • I will go approve it right now, and free thinkers are what we are all about actually.

Me though, I have been this way since I was a wee lad on the farm and marina out in the bush with my Dat and Uncles. Bushman/kid then Cadets and so on πŸ™‚
