Esten Lake

Yesterday I walked over to Esten Lake with my trusty Nikon camera and I snapped some shots around the lake.  Just compare these shots to the shots in the last post, which were all taken with my Olympus camera.  Keep in mind, this is a 4 megapixel, almost ten year old camera, against a 14.5 megapixel brand new camera.  Am I missing something here?

To me, the Nikon pics are far and away superior to the Olympus pics in quality.  How can that be?  I’ve tried every setting possible with the Olympus, but I’m still not getting the quality that I feel I should be getting.  The one reason that I would take the Olympus along over the Nikon is the telephoto capabilities, which I haven’t used all that much so far.  I would use that more for taking shots of animals at a distance.  Maybe one day I’ll go over to the Sherriff Creek blinds and sit there for a while to see if I can get some long distance shots of some wildlife.
